Scott Graham Paris

June 10, 2017

Scott Graham Paris never missed an opportunity to high-five friends or passing strangers. That willingness to celebrate the people around him came to an end on Saturday, June 10, 2017 when he died at Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital.

Scott was born in Worland, Wyoming on June 21, 1936 to Helen Welch and Herbert Graham Paris and grew up as the big brother to five surviving siblings: Charles, Kay (Bashford), Robert, Mark, and Lynn (Storer). He was an active and curious student all through his time in the Worland school system, creating relationships that would last his lifetime. He also attended Brigham Young University and the Elgin Watch College.

In 1955, he married Harriett Ann Jones. The two were a dedicated and inseparable couple for more than 60 years. Scott was a devoted father to four surviving sons and later to their wives: Tyler and Wendy, Michael and Shawnee, Jeffrey, and Christopher and Jennifer. Harriett continues to live in the loving home they created together. Scott was always proud and involved in the lives of his surviving eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

The Boy Scouts of America was an enduring passion for Scott. He was an Eagle Scout, served in multiple levels of the organization, and was awarded one of Scouting’s highest honors (the Silver Beaver) for distinguished service to youth.

For over 45 years, Paris Jewelry was a presence on Worland’s main street. Scott was an active small business owner designing and producing custom works of jewelry and serving as Worland’s resident watchmaker.

As a lifelong resident of Worland, Scott was dedicated to serving the community. He was a volunteer firefighter for decades. For a quarter century he served as director of the Washakie County Ambulance Service, during which time he became the first paramedic in the state of Wyoming. He was instrumental in improving the level of emergency care in Washakie County.

Those wishing to honor Scott are invited to make a donation to the Scott Paris Healthcare Scholarship which helps high school seniors pursue careers in healthcare. Send donations to Washakie County Ambulance Service, PO Box 817, Worland, WY 82401.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 17 at 2:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Worland, 500 Sagebrush Drive. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service. Burial will follow at Riverview Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Online condolences may be left at www.bryantfuneralhomeonline.com.
